A last post

It’s time to press pause on the newsletter. Big thanks for joining me on this two and half year ride. What began as a way to collect, understand and share what I was reading moved off in unexpected directions and gained momentum I never foresaw. That so many people from so many different backgrounds signed up was a total surprise.

Along the way, I feel like I've learnt a hell of a lot. But that said, I'm still firmly in the foothills of expertise and action in comparison to the many amazing people I've come across. On which score a special thanks goes out to all those who went out of there way to contribute expert guest posts.

Sadly though, with a change of personal circumstances, it's not proved possible to keep this running as a free and open-to-all newsletter. A huge thanks to those who did show support in the recent donation drive to try and keep things going. It became clear to me quite quickly that this would not be enough to keep the show on the road, and those who did donate are being sent it back.

I looked at the idea of moving the newsletter to a pay-based approach. But on balance, I felt this would be a leap too far away from the original purpose, motivation and audience for the newsletter, and make it a very different kettle of fish.

So it's now time to take a step back and explore future directions both in the football and climate space and elsewhere, with a close eye on making things more viable for me to do so. Please get in touch if you have any suggestions, or just want to bounce around ideas, I'm all ears.

All the content will remain freely available online. And if anything unexpectedly leads to the newsletter coming back in some workable shape or form, then that's great, as it’s been a blast. Otherwise, there’s plenty happening on the football and climate agenda, and clearly lots more coming up …. so upwards and onwards to everybody involved!
